What are the red spots that appear on the skin?

Have you noticed that you have some red spots, blemishes, or moles on your skin, and you’ve probably wondered what they mean? Well, if you didn’t get an answer before, surely reading this post will. The causes of these red spots or moles on the skin can be diverse.

They are also known as microangiomas, cherry angiomas, senile angiomas, capillary angiomas, or Campbell-De Morgan spots. They are always benign, like flat angiomas. They are small, about 2 mm in diameter, but some can reach 7 or more millimeters.
They can also be described as dilated small capillaries. They resemble a “varicose vein,” but are perpendicular to the skin. They contain a significant hereditary component, which is why they are also called acquired capillary angiomas.

It should be noted that the removal of these spots is solely for cosmetic reasons. Even if they are not malignant, you should see a doctor so they can diagnose whether it is another type of lesion or an angioma.

Red spots on the skin Causes

Natural aging. This is the main reason for the appearance of these lesions on the skin. They usually develop after the age of 40.

Sun exposure. Although they are not initially directly related to the sun, ruby spots can appear on your face if you have very fair skin. Sun exposure with inadequate or no sun protection will be relevant, as it increases cutaneous elastosis and accelerates photoaging.

Hormonal changes. Related to pregnancy.

Excess toxins. If many appear suddenly. In this case, you should see a doctor, even if they do not initially reflect an underlying disease.
