There has been an amazing amount of talent that has come from American Idol, and Kelly Pickler is among those who are the best of the best. Even though she didn’t win, she did come in sixth place on season five, but there was more.
Kelly displayed that she had an absolutely beautiful voice and a personality that made fans comfortable from the start. It wasn’t long after the American Idol season ended that she jumped to country and made some serious progress.
Kelly became well-known in the country music field and by 2007, she would be invited to the CMA awards. At those awards, she would put on a performance that made the audience really take notice. It was an emotional performance that showed just how much of a country star she had become.
When she opened up, it was with a rendition of ‘I Wonder’ that spoke about how painful it is to be abandoned as a child. The song makes’s reference to her own feelings about loss because she needed her mother, who wasn’t there when she had things happen in life.
She sang: “I think about how it ain’t fair/That you weren’t there to braid my hair/Like mothers do/You weren’t around to cheer me on/Help me dress for my high school prom.”
By the time the song had reached the final chorus, the audience was already in tears. She also struggled to hold back the tears and eventually, she could no longer hold them back. The audience cheered her on, obviously very moved that she was experiencing something right in front of them.
