There are certain moments in rock ‘n’ roll history that only come once and then they are gone. We want to make sure that we are there for them, and this includes what is supposed to be the final concert performance of Ozzy Osbourne. This July, the ‘Back to the Beginning’ show is slated to take place in Birmingham, UK. Ozzy Osbourne will be there to lead the legendary band, Black Sabbath as long as his health allows for it.
After being away from the stage for many years, Ozzy is now working on his health and trying to get ready for the demanding role of being in a concert. It isn’t just any concert, however, this is going to be the first reunion of the original Black Sabbath lineup in two decades.
Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward are slated to be on stage for the concert, but Ozzy, who is 76, hasn’t performed a full concert since 2018 because of his health. There will also be other iconic metal bands there to pay tribute to Black Sabbath. Ozzy said: “I’m in heavy training for this [‘Back To The Beginning‘ concert…]. I haven’t done anything for — this will be seven years [since I played a full concert], and so I’ve been through all this surgery. It really is like starting from scratch.” In order to rebuild the stamina that he lost due to multiple surgeries and Parkinson’s disease, he has to go through some rigorous exercises. He said: “Well, it’s endurance training.
“The first thing to go when you’re laid up is your stamina, so believe it or not, I’m doing two sets of three-minute walks a day and weight training. I’ve gotta get going, you know.
“I’m waking up in my body. I mean, three minutes to you… is nothing, but I’ve been laying on my back recovering from umpteen surgeries.”
Both Ozzy and Sharon, his wife, have admitted that he has some significant mobility issues. He speaks about the necessity to balance himself, adding: “I’m not dead. I’m still actively doing things.” He also added: “I have made it to 2025. I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive.”
Sharon Osborne says that his legs have been affected by Parkinson’s, but it has not affected his voice. She added: “His voice is as good as it’s ever been.” Ozzy has clarified what will take place at the Black Sabbath reunion. He said: “I’m not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.” Sharon also added: “Ozzy didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to his friends, to his fans, and he feels there’s no been no full stop. This is his full stop.”
